Affiliate Tip #4
Improving Email Deliverability
Blocking Poor Deliverabilty Domains
It may seem counter-intuitive that you can increase the number of emails that are delivered to your subscribers by blocking certain domains from subscribing... but that is the case.
We continuously test everything about our sales process including the percentage of subscriber emails that are actually delivered. We have found that if we block new subscribers from certain domains that we improve the rate of delivery to all other domains.
We have no idea why this happens. Maybe ISPs share information. There are any number of possible reasons. We really don't care the reasons though. We just want the maximum number of people who requested information from us to actually receive it. That happens when we block domains with certain deliverability characteristics.
The list of blocked domains changes often, so check back here to get the latest list on a regular basis. Here is our current list of domains that we block for new subsccribers in order to increase deliverability to other domains:
cheapskier.com
earthlink.net
email.com
frontiernet.net
hughes.net
ireland.com
live.com
q.com
telkomsa.net
vsnl.com
yahoo.com.br
How To Use This List
Most of you are using Aweber or GetResponse as your auto-responder service. Both services have the ability to block new subscribers using email addresses on a list of domains. Just plug the above list into your auto-responder service and new subscribers from the above domains will not be allowed to subscribe with that email address. They will need to use another email address. If your stats match ours (which most do), you will see an increase in total click-through rate of over 15% for your list with only a drop of less than 2% in new subscribers because of the block list. That is a pretty easy way to increase your profits by over 13%!
